We recommend that our HVAC customers they get annual servicing to ensure the smooth operation of their units, catching problems before they happen and saving money in the short and long term.
Among the things we will do in the annual check-up:
- check and calibrate your thermostat
- examine system controls
- tighten electrical connections
- examine the condensate drain
- clean and adjust the blower
- clean the evaporator and condenser coils
- check the refrigerant charge and heating fuel line connections
- inspect gas pressure

Replace the Filter
As an HVAC owner, you can, as well, do regular monthly maintenance tasks to help extend the life of your system and ensure it works at peak efficiency.
Every system has some kind of air filter or screen to prevent large airborne particles from entering and clogging the machinery.
A system with a dirty filter will work less efficiently and eventually stop working at all, putting stress on the system and perhaps requiring premature repairs.
Each month you should check your air filter and clean or replace it as needed. Some HVACs have indicator lights let you know when this should be done.
As a rule of thumb, you will need to replace it at least once every three months.
You may need to do this more frequently if you have pets, run the system more than six months a year, have a large family, smoke indoors and for other reasons.
Clear Outside Debris
You should also ensure that your outside unit can “breathe” without impediment. Clear
away any debris that may block airflow and clog the machinery.
You should also trim back any shrubbery or foliage at least 18 inches away from the unit.
And when your HVAC is dirty, hose it down to keep it clean.
